Bears of the Fjords

Our trip to see the bears was great. The pilot's name was Ryan. He was very nice and concerned about us having a good time. We saw many bears in a beautiful setting which he planned for us. It didn't seem like we could have gone wrong with our choice of tours...even if the bears didn't show, we were still surrounded by the Misty Fjords National Monument. Overall great!

Bears of the Fjords

To whom it may concern

We just got back from our trip to Alaska. We were the Calvely family group of six and visited the bears of the fjords with you. None of us knew exactly what we were going to experience when we took off in the sea plane from Ketchikan...and none of us can still believe how cool that was. I guess it's just hard to imagine yourself paddling on a floatplane within 50 yards of three brown bears digging for clams and playing in the grass. We wanted to thank Alaska Seaplane Tours for making these memories for us!

Hi Ryan - I just wanted to say thank you for the great time we had on our "bear watch" trip. All of us loved it - we couldn't believe the bear, salmon, and eagles - it was truly an incredible place you took us to and an incredible sight to see. We enjoyed getting to know you, and your staff - all were wonderful. So thank you again for helping to make our trip to Alaska truly awesome and something we will always remember.

Sincerely, Margie Young

The pilot was absolutely wonderful. He is what made this trip one that we will never forget. He was so accommodating. He gave us a great explanation of the area that we flew over. The aerial views were wonderful - truly spectacular sights. As far as the bears, this is where my daughter and I have different opinions. I enjoyed the solitude and being remote. We were the only two people with the pilot. He flew us to a cove and we patiently waited for bear. We saw one bear on the opposite side of the cove. The bear quickly disappeared before our eyes. I think the pilot felt very badly because we did not have the opportunity to photograph the bear. We quitely waited for a second sighting. In the interim, we saw one bald eagle atop a tree, several seals, needless to say hundreds of salmon. Finally a bear came within twenty feet of us. It was a male bear. We had the opportunity of photographing him numerous times before he ventured back into the woods.

We loved being in a very small group. This was a fun activity for our whole family. Scenery on the way was gorgeous, and pilot was knowledgeable and friendly. Our pilot was the BEST! We felt as if he was a good friend, and we learned so much about the area from him. He tried so hard to find the bears for us, and we ended up seeing only two, but that was still great. He brought the plane down as close as possible to give us the best possible views. The scenery was spectacular, and we never would have seen that kind of wilderness any other way. We loved that it was just the 4 of us. We hate big groups. Ryan was extra kind to my 12 year old daughter, who was crying with ear pain half way through the flight. We did not fly high enough for altitude problems and finally determined it was the discomfort of the head phones. He coaxed her out of the plane when she wanted only to go back to the ship and brought a smile back to her face when she was miserable. He was very concerned that she was unhappy, and his delightful and caring personality worked like magic, maybe because he also has 2 daughters.

Just wanted to let you know that my wife and I really enjoyed our flight Sept.14 at 9:45am. Thanks for the tight 360 to allow us to see the whales just as we took off. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary by taking a cruise and the flight was the icing on the cake. Again, thank you for an enjoyable flight and I hope you and your wife continue to do well with your business.

My name is Patricia Latham and I took a flight with you from Alaska with 3 of my relatives on June 12th or 13th. We were in Ketchikan off The Island Princess. We had a BLAST. That was the best part of our vacation. Is there anywhere on your site that I could do a testimonial for you? Please let me know, I will certainly recommend you to all of my friends who are visiting Alaska.

My husband and I have returned from our Alaskan cruise last Tuesday and would like to send you a special thank you. You took us up last Wednesday 7/19 and we loved it! You knew you terrain well and were able to show us many of the beautiful sights even though the weather was some what grey.

Again thank you very much,

PS I'll be wearing my T-Shirt hoping people ask me about you.

Hey Ryan and Marty,

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you folks for a excellent time! That tour was the best thing that happened in all 12 days we spent in Alaska. Ryan, it was great having a pilot and tour guide that wasn't just giving the same old canned narration while you were flying. Instead you were passionate about how you enjoy the places we went and the sights we saw. When all the other companies affiliated with the cruise lines were cancelling flights because they wouldn't be able to show the customers what the brochures tout due to low clouds and rain, you gave us the option to go or cancel. We made the right decision. You were right, the Misty Fjords are meant to be seen just as they are named... "misty".

Thanks again, and I will highly recommend your operation to any and all people who ask for a real Alaskan experience.
